Hayek's The Road to Serfdom documented the progressive colonization of language all the way back to the later 1800"s, with a significant first victim being the term "liberal."

They know what they're doing. There is no excuse. It is being done purposefully.

Back in the early 1980s, when I was a journalism student in college, I remember my advisor taking her red pen to various stories that we were submitting for the school newspaper. She was absolutely brutal with her editing and the biggest issue that she drilled into us was that there is a solid line between a news piece and an editorial piece and it was never to be crossed!

I can still see my papers, as she would hand them back to me, covered in red marks and pointed comments: "Is this a FACT or just your opinion? Do you have two independent sources to back this claim? Re-WRITE!!"

I strongly suspect that this style of teaching is long gone and I believe that we are all worse off because of the change!

Yes! It was SOP for journalism. I'm stunned at its almost-complete departure. Lately I've been subscribing to AllSides Media, which in my opinion does a pretty solid job of illustrating the biases present:

https://www.allsides.com/unbiased-balanced-news

With each story they cover, they provide the same story from the left and right. Not only does that engender more trust, it illustrates the subtle-yet-effective way words are used to influence and shift opinion.

Just like Rush Limbaugh used to say.

Words mean things.

Changing the meaning of words changes everything and makes it easier to hide the truth they don’t want you to know.

“Gender Affirming Care” has no basis in medical or genetic reality. That the phrase has become entrenched in the medical establishment is a travesty.

Sheryl, fantastic definitions of the word bias which affect consumer news outlets. I appreciate it. I thought I was very well aware of some of the more obvious examples, but there were a few I was unaware of and your explanations clarify the problem.

Not to mention they redefined the definition of vaccine, TWICE during Covid.

A vaccine is defined as safe if it only kills the same amount of people as the other vaccine to which it is compared.

A vaccine is considered effective if...well you know, ALL vaccines are considered effective. The more the merrier.

Euphemism is the word that we used to use in order to obfuscate the disturbing nastiness of the proper and accurate description of a thing.

So true Sharyl. As Orwell observed, first corrupt the language. What follows naturally is corruption of thought processes. CDC changing the definition of vaccine is a perfect example. We are incessantly told of Islamist extremism, but never a word about Zionist extremism.

No, it has been portrayed as such by the mainstream media, which is exactly the point. When everything the American people believe is false, we will know the success of our misinformation efforts.

In fact, and as predicted by Albert Einstein and Hannah Arendt, the Israeli State since its inception has practiced military aggression against all of its neighbors. Occupying the Sinai Desert of Egypt just 8 years after its inception, the Zionist State has steadily attacked and overthrown its neighbors. Again in 1967 when it attacked the USS Liberty.

George Bush joined up with Israel to conduct its Global War Of Terror immediately after the staged events at WTC. As Martin Luther King observed way back when, the US Government is the largest purveyor of terror on the planet. As we're seeing again, the US government acts at the direction of Tel Aviv.

Mainstream media does not portray Islam as the terrorist death cult that it is. It consistently portrays Islamic terrorism as fringe groups at odds with Islam the religion of peace.

You are all in with that lie.

You are well on your way to believing all the lies.

Half your rant is the opposite of the actual facts. Example:

The USS Liberty attack was plotted by US & Israel. The problem was that Israel botched the plan by failing to sink the ship

Perhaps that's because Zionist extremists seek a small portion of the world for themselves, whereas Islamist extremists seek the whole world.

You have it backwards James, but that's how you've been conditioned to see the world.

In fact, Israel has now overthrown the government of Syria, has attacked Egypt multiple times, constantly attacks Lebanon, owns the US Government and British Government, and generally kills off legitimately elected officials in numerous Islamic governments.

The US and Tel Aviv do Satan's work here on earth. Always have and always will.

Let me explain the goals of Islam according to the Koran.

1. To be killed while killing as many unbelievers as possible, because it is the only certain ticket to Paradise.

2. World Domination by any means necessary.

3. Murder of LGBTQP+.

4. Those who do not convert to Islam will be enslaved unless they pay the Jizya, an abusive tax.

5. Those who will not convert, be slaves or pay the Jizya, are to be executed. Allah is all merciful. Police be upon him.

How would you compare that to parts of the Torah, like Deuteronomy 7? It seems just as vicious and hateful to me. Both books could easily be called the most dangerous books in the world. More killing and hatred has been brought by them than any others it seems. It’s why I lost my religion decades ago.

Not one of my five points of Islam has any equivalent in the Old, or especially the New, Testaments. Not one.

On top of that there is ZERO credible archeological evidence anywhere that MoHimMaD ever existed.

Coins exist from @ the 7th century with the word MHMD and a Christian cross on the coin.

The word MHMD is found dozens of times in the Old Testament. Muslims insist it refers to MoHimMaD, but it never was & is not a name but a term of highest regard referring to Lord, or Jesus, Son of God.

Richard. You lack any kind of up to date information or knowledge of Islam or of Judaism or of

Christianity. You run your ignorant comments on empty.

No, you have it backwards Richard, because that's how you have been conditioned to see the world. Israel is not looking to take over their neighbors' territory, they are seeking to destabilize those elements in their neighbors who would destroy them if they could assume control of a large enough militia. This is because the underlying philosophy of those who is them includes the destruction of the Jewish people, and they frequently act upon that impulse. You'd take extreme measures too, if your community was in such a precarious situation. Do you know what Islamists want for the world?

The facts are on my side James, propaganda and fiction are on your side, with the foundational myth advanced in various religious texts, that "God" has chosen the Jews to be His Special People. As a former Christian, I find that myth to be at odds with Christian theory, that all humans are equal.

The facts are sir, that the Zionist State has started wars since it was created, as predicted by Einstein. Being in denial of those facts is the goal of religious and racial propaganda. You're certainly not the Lone Ranger is buying into that nonsense. Bibi and Donald are bloodthirsty savages with countless minions.
