Journalism among the legacy media is dead. It's a wonder anyone watches them at all.

Cheong nails it. Kudos to Musk are seen as a bad thing.

Yes, this is obvious. The most insidious power of the corporate media is their ability to pick and choose which stories to cover. Everyone focuses on the stories they distort, but those are far easier to counter than when they simply refuse to cover them at all.

Great article. Thank you. Given the involvement of Musk and Trump, there is no doubt that the legacy media will spend as little time as possible on the astronaut rescue if all goes smoothly.

They sure covered the hell out of space X when the rocket blew up a week or 2 ago though.

No way are they going to give Elon or Trump any positive air time;

Also, neither are Irish ☘️ nor Palestinian nor Ukrainian.

"This rescue operation marks a historic achievement in space exploration. Yet it has been met with a surprising lack of fanfare from major media outlets"

Not surprising and we can no longer refer to these organizations as "major media outlets". They are propagandists and only TDS & MDS afflicted are listening.

Glad we still have you to do real journalism. Thank you!

The media blackout surrounding the SpaceX rescue mission was entirely expected given the MDS we witnessed during the 2024 election cycle. Now that DOGE is exposing daily what every cognitive citizen knew was happening within the federal leviathan, it’s going to get worse.

I would love to see Musk/ Doge and their teams start a news network. I know they post and podcast an intense amount of information but I believe to win over another 10% or more of independents they need to be shown the truth.

Why doesn’t Fox, Newsmax, or NewsNation support a 1 hour weekly program of DOGE work or exposing the political lies.

With all the information now you could prove beyond a abiding of a doubt lies and criminal political behavior

THANK YOU for this article, Sheryl A! Great writing. Fantastic timing.

I have searched everywhere for tidbits of information about this heroic effort to save our stranded astronauts. It’s crazy how “zombie media” eats its own opportunities to do its job - ‘to inform all of us, across the board, on current events,’ further killing their ratings. And this one is historic!

It seems the lack of coverage is more than resistance to praise Musk, it is also caught in the web of their collective groupthink, in which they have politicized heroic public figures who do not march to their ideology. This is more sophomoric ‘liberal boycott’ and quite frankly unAMERICAN. It’s hard to fathom.

Safe Journey Astronauts! Thank you Elon! You are all heroes. Our hearts are with you.

Sharyl, huge fan here since you helped break Obama's attempt to ensnare gun stores and create a false narrative on "Fast and Furious", plus "Stonewalled" on CBS's weaponized Obama's coverup on Benghazi.

Did you choose not to mention the rumor, confirmed, that Biden WH decided not to rescue the stranded astronauts when able using SpaceX before the election?

Has anyone considered the effects 9 months of weightlessness will have had on the astronauts? They will find it very hard to recover their former health. I expect they will have osteopenia.

It is also important to consider NASA's change of mission under Obama and Biden, in which the space agency was bullied into extravagant irrelevancies of DEI. The same goes for the whole aerospace industry.

Half a century ago, it was understood that only the absolute best engineers could be part of the space program. There were two glaring exceptions. One was the set of idiots that put the Apollo 1 crew in a capsule with a 100% oxygen atmosphere, so that a small spark condemned them to death. Another was the set of idiots who performed the statistical analysis allowing the space shuttle Challenger to launch on a frozen winter day; I and my fellow statistics students learned this as a case study in graduate school.

For the most part, however, the aerospace program was devoted to one thing alone: excellence. Now the mission has been muddled so that some people's feelings won't be hurt, but real live people suffer as a consequence.

There is no mystery around this. The reason is stated in the essay. Musk is doing it, so he must be doing it for evil reasons. Nothing to see here.

In the 1960's our family watched every space launch and return of the astronauts. We were proud of the accomplishments of NASA and our country. The media's current failure to acknowledge these incredible feats of bravery deprives kids and teenagers of the opportunity to develop healthy pride in the USA. Sadly, the blackout is intentional. Check YouTube for videos on this heartwarming story.
