I live in Wyoming and discovered the root of many issues is in a corrupted state bar. Whomever controls the state bar, essentially controls the state. I was a whistleblower against the guard, each time I needed an attorney, the attorney would begin normally. Midstream the attorney would flat out tell me they could not represent me nor could they quit. The legal system requires a judge to approve an attorney withdrawing. And in many cases won’t permit you to go pro se and represent yourself. Thus leaving you stuck with an attorney working against you - all under threat of their own license if they actually represent a political target.
Remember, these are the same dishonorable miscreants that don't hesitate to abuse and corruptly go after citizens for their own lunatic ideology and agenda.
I suspect that the "intelligence" operatives tell legislators, prosecutors, and judges that they have, or can create, evidence of wrongdoing as needed.
Unfortunately, it will keep on happening until some of them are punished. If they are tried in blue districts, the chance of punishing them is zero. Jury nullification, all their defense attorney has to say is, "My client is a Democrat. This is a political persecution, acquit him/her."
Imagine all the dirt our intelligence agencies found on members of congress and their families. Then imagine the phone calls to those members, providing details about the dirt, and then telling him or her "Go ahead and prosecute, but the rest of your life will be a living hell."

It's bad enough that the government is buying our data from private brokerages -- the records of your purchases, location, phones calls, etc, gives them near real-time actionable intelligence and detailed profiles on anyone and everyone. But having direct control of all networked devices gives the government the ability to manipulate reality -- to decide what you see and who gets to speak. The color revolution playbooks the U.S. has been running for decades that used to require extensive investment in personnel and infrastructure can now be deployed instantly, anywhere. It's all automated and AI assisted now.
There are open standard chips coming to market but it does seem that 5th gen warfare against your own people is likely to be a permanent feature of the digital age. Not an easy fix.
To me, unmentioned yet (unless I missed it), is the giant elephant in the room, Donald J. Trump. How can we blithely accept the blizzard of state and federal legal actions against Trump while he was a candidate for president? And how do we overlook the targeted legal actions against Michael Flynn, a retired three-star general, and others (including threats against General Flynn's son!).
It is generally recognized that the millions of pages of law at the state and federal level, and the continuous revision to those laws, including regulations, make it almost impossible to follow the law in many pursuits without an army of attorneys on staff. This is unfortunate in both the obvious way that it is subject to political abuse, but also that it amounts to a barrier to entry into many areas of commerce that might well benefit from additional competition.

In response to John Jensen's comment, I believe that even the well-meaning people in government succumb to the human feeling that maybe if it is made public it will not happen again. None of us likes to attack our acquaintances. Apparently, this notion amounts to wishful thinking.
And I believe Jensen's point makes the case that the selective prosecution of Trump, Flynn and others was malicious. We should understand that none of this is actually about guilt or innocence.
As I have noticed with all of these investigations into wrong doing by government officials and agencies the investigators make a lot of noise but no one is ever held accountable. No official is ever being charged with these acts. They never serve any time in prison nor lose all their generous government perks.

I don't get the currents of politics and why some who do these things get no punishment. Pulling an attorney's bar number for 5 years is a good start.
